David Hampton is editorial director of The Clarion-Ledger.
He has been with the Jackson newspapers since 1976, when he joined the Jackson Daily News. He has covered all levels of government and politics, including the Legislature and a tour in the newspapers' Washington, D.C., bureau.In 1982, he was named city editor of the Daily News and in 1983 was appointed metropolitan editor of The Clarion-Ledger.
He was named editorial director in 1986.
